Pre-conference Masterclass: Dealing with Bad Health News

For the first time, AMA will partner with the Pam McLean Centre to offer a pre-conference masterclass to help doctors explore approaches to support patients who are dealing with bad news about their health.

The hands-on, experiential masterclass will feature immersive interactive role plays which look at complex communication problems such as breaking bad news, dealing with bad news and end of life conversations.

Facilitated by Stewart Dunn, Professor of Psychological Medicine at Sydney Medical School Northern and Director of Pam McLean, this masterclass will not only increase doctors' knowledge and skills but also their understanding and interpretation of human behaviour and the value of good communication within the health system.
