A/Prof David Mountain

A/Prof Mountain is a UK born and trained Emergency Physician who migrated to Australia in 1990.  He is currently the head of department, an examiner, director of training, research academic and an advocate for quality emergency care. He has been an AMA WA member since 1997, with roles as Councillor, Vice President, President and Treasurer of AMA WA and Emergency Craft GP representative on AMA Federal Council since 2006. 

A/Prof Mountain has been vocal about issues around Emergency Department overcrowding and the terrible effects of delayed care on mental health patients. Advocacy through the AMA WA, AMA and ACEM helped lead to the 2008 ACEM Access Block Summit, the 2009 WA 4-hour rule and the National Emergency Access Target (NEAT) from 2011. More recently WA advocacy and data generated the initial interest/information that lead to the 2018 National Emergency Mental Health Care Summit in Melbourne. 

A/Prof Mountain is married with two kids and he is a rugby, golf, hockey tragic with a love of good food, wine, travel, music and films.
