Ms Jacoba van Wees


Jacoba is the 2019 Chair of the Australian Medical Students’ Association (AMSA) Rural Health Committee, the peak representative body for rural-background students, rural clinical school students, and the rural health interests of medical students Australia-wide. AMSA Rural Health supports and facilitates medical students’ engagement with rural health and advocates for students on rural issues. AMSA Rural Health also advocates on behalf of rural communities and their constituents. Jacoba is currently a year 4C graduate entry MD student at Monash University, having previously graduated with a Bachelor of Biomedical Science in 2016. 

Jacoba is from the beautiful region of Gippsland Victoria, and is passionate about all aspects of rural health and rural medical training, with a personal interest in non-GP vocational training in rural areas and access to speciality services for rural communities. Jacoba has been involved with a number of community volunteering organisations, and has been a part of AMSA Rural Health since 2018.
